A little bit about Rossini

Nova Musica is currently rehearsing the Overture to L’italiana in Algeri (1813) – Gioachino Rossini.  You can listen to a recording of the piece posted by the LGMusic Festival here.

While expressing the character of the music, Bill described Rossini as an “epicurean”, which is defined as “a person devoted to sensual enjoyment, especially that derived from fine food and drink.”*

There are a vast amount of resources available online if one is interested to learn more about Rossini.
